How is organic yogurt different from conventional yogurt?

Does organic yogurt have probiotics?

Yes, Wallaby yogurts contain the following live and active cultures, which may have a probiotic benefit: L. ACIDOPHILUS, L. BULGARICUS, S. THERMOPHILUS, BIFIDUS, L. PARACASEI.

Where does Wallaby’s organic milk come from?

Wallaby sources milk from over 300 USDA certified organic farms across the United States.

What do organic cows eat?

We partner with over 300 farms around the country and each farmer chooses what to feed their cows within organic standards. Some examples of what cows may be fed include hay, alfalfa, barley, safflower, corn, cottonseed, and soybeans. The available grass, feed, and forage differ across geographic regions, but our goal is the same: to provide cows with a healthy, balanced organic diet.

How long do cows graze for?

Per the national organic standards, no grazing season is less than 120 days. Each animal must receive at least 30 percent of its dry matter intake from grazing pasture. When cows are not grazing on pasture, they eat organic hay and feed. Our feed and forage are produced without the use of animal by-products, genetically modified feed grains (GMOs), or prohibited herbicides, pesticides, or fertilizers.

What is Aussie Greek style yogurt?

We’re glad you asked! Aussie Greek style yogurt follows a traditional straining method and a signature, slow culturing process that results in a deliciously thick, rich in protein, and distinctively mild flavored Greek yogurt.

What makes Wallaby Aussie Greek yogurts so good?

Wallaby yogurt stands out due to our unique, slow-crafted process. This method involves culturing our yogurt twice, which helps develop its rich, creamy texture. It also ensures that the flavors have time to develop, resulting in a yogurt that is not too tart but perfectly balanced.

What does traditionally strained mean?

It’s how we produce our Greek yogurts! Straining is the process by which excess whey (liquid) is removed from yogurt and is the traditional method for producing Greek yogurt. The straining method is what makes our Aussie Greek yogurt deliciously thick and rich in protein.

Are Wallaby’s organic yogurts pasteurized?

Yes, Wallaby’s organic yogurts are pasteurized.

Do Wallaby products contain major allergens?

Yes, Wallaby’s organic yogurts contain milk allergens.

Do Wallaby products contain soy?

No, Wallaby’s organic Greek yogurts do not contain soy or soy-based ingredients.

Are Wallaby’s Greek yogurts gluten free?

Yes, all our products have been tested and found to be gluten-free. Our yogurt has been certified gluten-free since 2013 by the Gluten-Free Certification Organization (GFCO). Look for the ‘Gluten Free’ symbol on our yogurt packaging.

How much protein does Wallaby’s Greek yogurt have?

Wallaby yogurt is an excellent source of protein, providing more than 20% of the recommended daily value per serving. The protein content varies by product, but they range from 12g-16g of protein per serving.

How much calcium is in Wallaby yogurt?

The calcium content varies by product, but they range from 150mg-190mg of calcium per serving.

Why does Wallaby’s nonfat yogurt have more calcium than Wallaby’s lowfat yogurt?

Nonfat yogurt has more calcium because we use a higher concentration of milk solids in our nonfat yogurt, which results in a higher calcium content.

How does Wallaby’s nonfat yogurt contain cholesterol? The nutrition facts show that it has no fat in it.

Since yogurt is an animal-based product, it will contain some cholesterol.

Ingredients / Flavoring

Do Wallaby’s yogurts contain sweeteners like Stevia and Xylitol?

We don’t use these ingredients in any of our products.

Do Wallaby yogurts contain Lactose?

Yes, Wallaby products contain lactose.

Where does the sugar in Wallaby’s plain Greek yogurts come from?

The sugar in Wallaby’s plain yogurts comes from the naturally occurring sugars in milk.

What are the specks in my Vanilla yogurt?

The specks in Wallaby Organic Vanilla Bean yogurt come from the vanilla pod/seed which looks dark brown and can range in size from a small dot to a splinter.

Does Wallaby yogurt contain whey?

Yes, our products contain whey. It’s normal to find a little bit of liquid on top of the yogurt upon opening. The watery layer found on top is whey—an inherent component in cultured yogurt. Even though most of the whey is strained out of our Greek yogurt, there could still be a small amount present upon opening due to the yogurt settling. You can just pour off the whey if you prefer to keep your yogurt very thick, or you can stir it in.

Recycling

Can Wallaby’s packaging be recycled?

Our tubs are made from polypropylene (plastic #5). Though this material is recyclable in many communities, it is important to check locally to ensure that your municipality accepts polypropylene in curbside recycling or drop-off recycling. Shelf Life

What is the shelf life of Wallaby yogurts?

In general, our yogurt should be good within 7 days after it has been opened.

What if I leave my Wallaby yogurt unrefrigerated?

Our products are meant to be refrigerated. We cannot confirm the quality of the product if left unrefrigerated for an extended period of time.

Can I freeze Wallaby products?

While we do not recommend freezing our Greek-style yogurts, as this can adversely affect the texture and make it grainy, we have seen it used in frozen recipes!

How does a brand become Certified?

An audit of B Impact Assessment responses, requiring substantiating documentation, is a step that follows the completion of the online assessment.
